SA designed luxury beachwear and living label henley general has just launched!

For Henley Beach locals and henley general founders Matty and Zenna Mammone, after embarking on a journey of creating a healthier lifestyle and focusing on having fun with family and their chocolate Labrador ‘fur baby’ Nala, henley general was born in late 2022. “For us inspiring our two amazing and energetic kids was a motivator to spend more time outdoors.

“We have both just finished our first Olympic distance triathlon in Queensland and have our sights firmly set on the Adelaide marathon later this year,” explains Zenna. “With all the time outdoors, we noticed that Henley Beach, which we think is one of the best beaches and places to live, work and play wasn't really being represented, especially through clothing.

“Fast forward 12 months and the next thing we know, we are launching our own clothing brand!” Matty says, “Our dream is to help everyone realise the importance of celebrating beach life. Whether that's chilling with family or friends or playing with the kids and walking the dog. Beach life has so much to offer and to us the journey starts with henley general.” Zenna explains that the label’s design process stemmed from humble beginnings in the couple’s lounge room as Matty was frustrated when searching for a unique tee to wear from ‘beach to bar’.

“While Matt’s foremost an engineer as Director at our civil and structural engineering firm gama consulting, he is also a ‘fashionista’ at heart, Zenna says.

“Our tees, designed in some amazing colours have been selling as fast as we can restock them! Zenna also explains, “It’s been a natural progression for me as I have a marketing and comms background, looking after marcomms for our engineering business and now for our clothing label.

“Another of our best sellers has been our 100% pre-shrunk cotton oversize beach bag, complete with phone pocket and zip, and the best part is after a busy day out, you can just pop it in the wash.” “Our kids’ range has also just launched, as our own kids didn't want to miss out on the fun! It's essentially a mini version of our fave adult range.”

“We also stock a beautiful range of colourful bucket hats, unique 100% Turkish cotton beach towels and curated linen. Matt says, “Even though we are only a young brand, we're very excited about the feedback were receiving from our customers...with many coming back for repeat sales and to purchase gifts for family and friends.” And when asked what’s next for the local brand, Zenna says, “We're currently working on our autumn/winter range including locally designed hoodies, beanies and scarves.

“We are also in talks to have HG stocked in a range of local stores, so watch this space!”
